description
PROTECTIVE CHAIN FOR SEALING A CONNECTING CABLE TO A HOUSING
The invention relates to a protective sleeve which covers a connection region of a connection line to a housing and prevents moisture from entering at this point.
Conventionally, electronic devices are equipped with the maximum protection class for sämtli¬che possible applications. This leads to a high cost for all devices in a few applications that require a high level of protection. This is inefficient, especially in a large number of applications where such a high level of protection is not needed. However, the alternative of constructing, producing and distributing several different electronic devices for different protection classes also requires a great deal of effort.
For example, German Patent DE 10 2006 042 192 B3 shows a housing and a connecting line, which are sealed by special sealing means. Here, a high degree of protection is achieved with great effort. However, if only a low protection class is required, the production effort can not be reduced without a redesign.
The invention is based on the object to provide an electronic device wel¬ches which can be equipped depending on the application with a different level of protection.
The object is achieved for the device by the features of inde pendent claim 1. Advantageous developments are the subject of the dependent claims.
A protective sleeve according to the invention serves to seal at least one connection line to a housing. The boot includes a first opening and at least one second opening. The protective sleeve is designed to encompass the housing in a region of a connection of the at least one connection line with the first opening, and to encompass the at least one connection line with the at least one second opening. Thus, the area of the entry of the connecting line into the housing, which is particularly critical for the protection class, is specifically protected by the protective sleeve. In applications in which no high protection class is necessary, can be dispensed with the Schutz¬manschette. It is therefore not necessary to construct different devices for different protection classes. Rather, a device designed for a low protection class can be upgraded by adding the protective sleeve in its protection class.
Preferably, the first opening has a shape and size of a cross section of the housing. Additionally or alternatively, the second opening has a shape and size of a cross section of the at least one connecting line. This ensures a tight fit of the protective boot both on the housing and on the connecting cable.
Preferably, the protective sleeve is elastic. The first opening is formed to ensure a tight fit on the housing by elastic bias. Additionally or alternatively, the at least one second opening is then designed to have a tight fit on the at least one connecting line by elastic prestressing. A particularly good seal can be achieved in this way.
Preferably, the protective sleeve made of plastic, in particular polyurethane or polyvinyl chloride. Thus, a favorable production can be achieved with good sealing properties.
The plastic is preferably an additive for increasing the elasticity and / or an additive for increasing the thermal conductivity and / or an additive for increasing the longevity and / or an additive for increasing the resistance to environmental influences, in particular against ultraviolet radiation attached , Thus, particularly favorable properties of the protective sleeve are achieved.
The first opening preferably has a rectangular or square or circular or elliptical cross section. Additionally or alternatively, at least one second opening has a rectangular or square or circular or elliptical cross section. Thus, the protective sleeve can very flexibly seal different housing shapes and connecting line shapes.
The protective sleeve preferably has two or three or four or a plurality of second openings, which are designed to comprise two or three or four or a plurality of connecting lines to the housing. Thus, electronic devices can be sealed with more than one connecting line.
In this case, one of the second openings preferably has a section which tapers in the direction of the at least one connecting line or which tapers stepwise. By removing at least a portion of the tapered or stepped tapered portion, the second aperture can be adapted to different cross sections of the at least one connecting lead. This achieves a further increase in the flexibility of the use of the protective sleeve.
In this case, one of the second openings preferably has a closure at a connection-line-side end. The closure is designed to seal an interior of the protective boot against an external space. It is designed to be removed prior to insertion of the at least one connecting line. This is particularly relevant if the protective sleeve has a plurality of second openings, but only a smaller number of connecting lines are to be sealed as second openings.
In this case, the first opening preferably has a section which tapers in the direction of the housing or tapers stepwise. The first opening is then designed to be adapted to different cross-sections of the housing by removing at least part of the tapering or stepwise tapering section. Hereby, an increase in flexibility is achieved.
Preferably, the first opening at a housing-side end of a closure, which is designed to seal an inner space of the protective sleeve against an outer space. It is also designed to be removed before insertion of the housing. This ensures that the interior of the protective sleeve is clean before being attached to the electronic device.
Preferably, the protective sleeve has at least one holding device, vor¬zugt a clip which fixes the protective sleeve to the housing. Additionally or alternatively, the protective sleeve has at least one holding device, preferably a clamp, which fixes the protective sleeve to the at least one connecting line. Sowird a particularly tight fit of the protective cuff is achieved.
Preferably, the protective sleeve forms a kink protection for the at least one connecting line in the region of the at least one connecting line. This ensures a particularly long service life of the connecting cable.
An electronic device according to the invention has a housing and at least one connecting line. The housing has an electronics assembly connected to at least one lead. The electronic device furthermore has a protective sleeve described above, which with its first opening comprises the housing in a region of a connection of the at least one connection line and with its at least one second opening which comprises at least one connecting line. Thus, a reliable sealing of the electronic device is achieved at a low manufacturing cost.
The electronic device according to the invention is, for example, an operating device for lamps, such as electronic ballasts, transformers for halogen lamps or an LED converter for an LED bulb.
The invention will be described by way of example with reference to the drawing, in which an advantageous Ausfüh¬rungsbeispiel the invention is shown. 1 shows a first exemplary embodiment of the protective sleeve according to the invention and of the electronic device according to the invention in a sectional representation; [0022] FIG. 2 shows a second embodiment of the protective sleeve according to the invention and the electronic device according to the invention in a sectional view, and [0024] FIG. 3 shows a detailed view of a third exemplary embodiment of the invention
Boot.
First, the general structure and the general Funk¬tionsweise various embodiments of the protective sleeve according to the invention and the electronic device according to the invention will be explained with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2. Referring now to Figure 3, details of the construction of one embodiment of the boot will be discussed. Identical elements have been used in similar figures. not shown and described repeatedly.
In Fig. 1, a first embodiment of the electronic device 1 according to the invention is shown. The electronic device 1 includes a housing 2 and a connecting line 9. The housing 2 in this case has an electronic module 3, which has connections 5. At the terminals 5 individual wires 7 of the connecting line 9 are connected. The housing 2 also has strain reliefs 6, which prevent withdrawal of the veins 7 from the terminals 5.
The area of the housing 2 around the terminals 5 is sealed with a protective sleeve 4. The protective sleeve 4 has, on the side of the housing 2, a first opening 14, with which the protective sleeve 4 comprises the housing 2. In the region of the connecting line 9, the protective sleeve 4 has a second opening 15, with which it comprises the connecting line 9. At the openings 14, 15, the protective sleeve 4 closes off in a sealed manner with the housing 2 or the connecting line 9. This is achieved in particular in that the openings 14, 15 of the protective sleeve 4 have the size and the cross-section of the housing 2 and the connection line 9, respectively.
The protective sleeve is preferably made of plastic, in particular of polyurethane or polyvinyl chloride. A production of other preferably flexible, particularly elastic materials is conceivable. In addition, an even denser fit of the protective sleeve 4 on the housing 2 or on the connecting line 9 can be achieved by elastic production of the protective sleeve 4. In particular, a particularly tight fit of the openings 14, 15 of the protective sleeve 4 can be achieved by means of an elastic pretensioning.
In particular, an additive for increasing the elasticity and / or increasing the thermal conductivity and / or increasing the longevity and / or increasing the resistance to environmental influences, in particular anti-UV radiation, may be added to the plastic.
In addition, the opening 15 of the protective sleeve 4 preferably has a step-wise tapering section 8. By the stepwise taper is achieved that the opening 15 can be adapted to different sizes and cross sections of the connecting line 9. The adaptation is achieved by removing a part of the step-wise tapered section 8. Instead of a stepwise tapering section 8, a (continuously) tapered section can also be used. It is also possible to use a tapering or stepwise tapering section of the opening 14 for adapting to different sizes and cross sections of the housing 2.
To further improve the fit of the protective sleeve 4 on the housing 2 bzw.an the connection line 9 holding devices, in particular brackets, in the region of the openings 14, 15 of the protective sleeve 4 can be used beyond.
In Fig. 2, a second embodiment of the electronic device 1 according to the invention and the protective sleeve 4 is shown. The protective sleeve 4 here has two openings 16, 17 for receiving connection lines 12, 13. The two openings 16, 17 are formed so that they rest tightly against the connection lines 12, 13. Here too, sectionally tapered sections 10, 11 are attached to the endings 16, 17 in order to achieve adaptability for different sizes of connecting lines 12, 13. In particular, when the protective sleeve 4 has a plurality of openings 16, 17 for a plurality of connecting lines the protective sleeve 4 is preferably formed with closures on the openings 16, 17 prior to mounting on the electronic device 1. The shutters are removed in this case prior to insertion of the leads 12, 13. Through the shutters it is achieved that not all openings 16, 17 have to be provided with connection lines in order to achieve a tight closure of the electronic device 1. For example, a protective sleeve 4 shown in FIG. 2 could also be used for only one connection line. In this case, the closure of the further opening is not removed.
In Fig. 3 a detail of an embodiment of Schutzman¬schette invention is shown in a sectional view. Shown is a section through the connection lines 12, 13 from FIG. 2. It can clearly be seen here that the sectionally tapered sections 10, 11 of the protective sleeve 4 are in the region of the openings 16, 17.
The housing-side opening 14 of the protective sleeve 4 can have a wide variety of cross sections. Thus, a rectangular, square, circular or ellipsen¬förmiger cross-section are conceivable. The connection-line-side openings 15, 16, 17 can also have different cross-sections. Thus, rectangular, square, kreisför¬mige or elliptical cross-sections are also conceivable here.
Although in the embodiments shown here only protective sleeves 4 are shown with one connection-line-side openings 15 or two connection-line-side openings 16, 17, any numbers of connection-line-side openings can be realized.
In addition, the protective sleeve 4 forms a kink protection for the connection lines 9, 12, 13 by means of the connecting line-side sections 8, 10, 11.
The invention is not limited to the illustrated embodiment. As already mentioned, different electronic devices can be provided with the protective sleeve according to the invention. For example, voltage transformers can be used. All the features described above or features shown in the figures can be combined with one another in any advantageous manner within the scope of the invention.
